Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is an organization of predominantly African-American, college-educated women, dedicated to public service. For over 100 years we have been at the forefront of promoting programs and projects in local communities throughout the world that provide support in the areas of Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health Awareness and Involvement, and Political Awareness and Involvement.

The East Pocono Alumnae Chapter, which was chartered in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania in 2013, is seeking to further the organization’s goals through the implementation of programs that reflect the mission of our sorority. One of our primary goals, in the realm of educational development, is to encourage and support the pursuit of academic achievement and excellence. Towards that end, we have established a supplementary scholarship fund to provide awards to young Black students pursuing a college education. Each recipient will receive an award of up to $1000.00 (one thousand dollars). Scholarships will be issued once proof of enrollment such as a current tuition bill or college schedule is received and verified. In the event a recipient declines the scholarship award, it will be offered to the next eligible recipient.

We are looking for students who are matriculating towards a baccalaureate degree in the Fall of 2025 at a four year accredited college or university.

Requirements for applicants are as follows:

● Must be a Black high school senior or undergraduate college student.
● Must have a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
● Must be a resident of the East Pocono service area (Monroe County and Pike County).
● Must submit an official high school transcript and college acceptance letter (incoming freshmen only).
● If you are already attending college (freshman, sophomore, junior), submit an official college transcript and applicants current tuition and fees bill.
● Must submit a color photo (headshot).
● All applicants must sign the application.
● All applicants must complete a personal interview.
● Incomplete applications will not be reviewed.

● Must submit a completed application, including a typed, double-spaced personal Statement not more than 250     words by March 8, 2025.
● Interviews will be held on April 22th, 2025.
